Puerto Rico resources

Puerto Rico's natural resources are very limited. Many areas of Puerto Rico are dominated by mountainous terrain that makes it difficult to grow crops. There are still some resources on the island which could be used for industry and construction. There are deposits of copper and nickel, oil, and even sand on the island. There are also large quantities of gravel, rock, and sand. Despite all these resources, oil mining has proven prohibitively costly.

Puerto Rico's residents have access to many government resources. First and foremost, the government established the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. It is responsible to ensure the proper management of Puerto Rico's natural resources. This agency works towards improving quality of life on the island. A robust online resource is also available from the Puerto Rico government for all legal information. The Guide to Law Online, for example, has links to a complete database of official text from legal sources. This database also includes summaries for many legal documents in English as well as other languages.

Resources for Virgin Islands citizens

The Virgin Islands is a group consisting of approximately ninety small rock, cays and islands that span more than sixty miles in the Caribbean Sea. The USVI is a member of the American Samoa, but it is not part of the British Virgin Islands. While some people consider the islands to be part of the USVI, they are actually part of the Greater Antilles. These islands are predominantly mountainous and rise from a submerged plateau. Between St. Croix's islands and those to the north, the Caribbean Sea becomes a deep trench measuring over 15,000 feet. The islands only rise a few hundredft above the sea, with some isolated peaks reaching as high as 1,200ft.
